SOUS CHEF

About the Role
Stretch and Fold Yoga Studio & Seasonal Café is seeking an experienced and passionate Sous Chef to join our growing team. We are looking for someone who thrives in a creative, fast-paced environment, is deeply curious about food and fermentation, and enjoys being part of a community-focused space where wellness, hospitality, and exceptional food come together.
As Sous Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef to help lead daily kitchen operations, contribute to menu development, maintain high culinary standards, and support the delivery of special events and catering experiences. This is a hands-on role for a chef who loves both structure and creativity and is excited by the opportunity to help shape a unique food program.
What You'll Do
Support the Head Chef in all aspects of kitchen operations
Assist with menu development, seasonal specials, and recipe creation
Lead service and maintain exceptional food quality and consistency
Manage food preparation, ordering, inventory, and waste control
Train, mentor, and support kitchen team members
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and organization
Contribute to our fermentation program, including developing and maintaining fermented products
Assist with the planning and execution of events, workshops, and catered functions
Step confidently into challenges and help find practical, creative solutions
What We're Looking For
Proven experience as a Sous Chef or senior kitchen leader
Strong culinary skills with a passion for seasonal, ingredient-driven cooking
A genuine interest in fermentation and traditional food preservation techniques
Experience working events, catering, or high-volume service environments
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to remain calm, positive, and effective under pressure
A collaborative spirit and willingness to contribute across the business
Hands-on, proactive approach with a love of learning and experimentation
